Workatovs Callvu

Workato is an enterprise integration and automation platform that connects applications, governs AI and API traffic with one policy model, and runs AI agents through prebuilt skills. Callvu is the Completion and Compliance Layer for regulated processes: it orchestrates, routes and decides too, and runs the whole process from the customer's request to the write-back to the core, with every regulation and company policy enforced on every step of the business process by a deterministic orchestrator. Workato connects systems; Callvu finishes the regulated work.

The fair version

What Workato is built for.Sourced from their own pages.

Workato describes itself as the control and execution platform to govern AI, connecting apps, data, workflows and AI agents on one enterprise platform [1]. Its workflows automate work across thousands of connected applications [1], built as recipes [6], and its AI Control Plane applies one policy model and one audit trail to AI model calls, agent tool use and API requests [2]. Genies, built in Agent Studio, are AI agents that carry out multi-step business actions through prebuilt skills [3][4]. Workflow apps add review and approval steps for people and public forms for outside submissions [5], genie skills can require a designated approver before a system write runs, a feature in beta [10], and document reading returns per-field confidence scores, with Workato recommending review of values at or below 0.95 in steps you build into the recipe [6]. Workato lists financial services customers such as Nasdaq and BNY [7], and in September 2026 reported more than a billion enterprise AI actions on its platform [9].

When to choose which

Two different jobs.Pick the one you need.

When to choose Workato

Choose Workato when the need is connecting many business applications and automating work across them [1], and governing how AI agents and models reach those systems [2], for IT and operations teams across the enterprise.

When to choose Callvu

Choose Callvu when a regulated process must run end to end, from the customer's request on any channel to the write-back to the core. Callvu orchestrates the work, routes it by work type, skill and due date, applies rules and policies and manages every decision, with five moves: it prefills from the core, classifies each request the moment it lands, chases and verifies documents from customers and third parties on a clock, routes decisions to the Decision Desk, and writes the result back by API.

Guardrails are not runtime enforcement. Workato's Genies act through prebuilt skills [4], the AI Control Plane screens and records that traffic with guardrails such as PII masking and prompt-injection screening [2], and an approval step can put a person in front of a system write [10]. An approval checks one action; it does not enforce every regulation on every step. Even with guardrails, an AI that runs a step can write wrong data to the system of record, take a path that is not in the workflow, or act compliantly most of the time rather than every time. Callvu does not let AI run the process. A deterministic orchestrator executes every step of a defined workflow and enforces every regulation and company policy before the step runs; AI only starts a process or evaluates it. Every run is recorded in a Decision Trace and an Audit Trace.

Side by side

The verifiable facts.Nothing else.

Every cell about Workato is sourced from its own public pages. Runtime enforcement and the handoff lead the table because they are where the two differ most.

Runtime compliance enforcementYes. A deterministic orchestrator runs every step; AI never runs the process. Every regulation and company policy is enforced on every step while the work runs, whether a person or an AI started it; a step that fails a control does not run. A Decision Trace and an Audit Trace for every runNot a platform capability for the business process. One policy model governs AI model calls, agent tool use and API requests, and that control follows each request into the record it writes; genie skills can add a business approval, in beta, where a designated person approves before the system write runs. Regulations are not enforced as process steps, and business rules live in each recipe your team builds [2]
Front-to-back-office handoffYes, end to end: prefill from the core, classify the work, chase and verify documents from customers and third parties on a clock, route decisions to the Decision Desk and write back to the system of recordPartial. Steps such as KYC and AML checks, agreement signing, approvals and provisioning can run in one flow with people in the loop, built per process, as in Novatti's onboarding; workflow apps you build add review and approval pages and public forms. Prefill from the core and requesting and verifying documents from customers and third parties on a clock are not documented [8]
Orchestration, routing, rules and decisioningYes: workflow orchestration, routing by work type, skill and due date, rules and policies, and human decisions in the Decision DeskYes: recipes orchestrate multi-system workflows; workflow apps add review and approval steps for people [5]
AI guardrails vs deterministic executionDeterministic execution, not guardrails: AI never runs the process. A deterministic orchestrator executes every step and enforces every control before it runs, so nothing unchecked reaches the system of record and no step outside the workflow can happenAI Control Plane guardrails such as PII masking, prompt-injection screening and grounding checks, with one audit trail covering every AI action, over agents that take business actions [2]
DocumentsRequests each missing item from the right party on a clock, reads it on arrival and checks it against what the case needsDocument reading (IDP) added to a recipe, with per-field confidence scores; Workato recommends reviewing values at or below 0.95, in review steps you build [6]

Using both together

Keep what works.Add the layer that finishes it.

Workato can keep connecting your applications. Callvu runs the regulated process across them, from intake through documents and decisions to the write-back, and calls or is called by Workato recipes by API, with every step enforced and recorded. Callvu can also run the whole process on its own.

FAQ

The questions buyers ask.Answered plainly.

Does Workato enforce compliance at runtime?
Workato's AI Control Plane applies one policy model to AI model calls, agent tool use and API requests, follows each request into the record it writes, and records every interaction. Genie skills can also require a designated person to approve before a system write runs (a beta feature). That governs the traffic between AI and systems; it does not enforce regulations as steps of the business process. Business rules for a regulated process live in each recipe your team builds. Callvu enforces every regulation and company policy on every step of the business process itself, with a deterministic orchestrator, and AI never runs the process.
Is Workato's AI governance the same as Callvu's runtime enforcement?
No. Guardrails and gateway policies limit and record what an AI does while it does the work. Even with guardrails, an AI that performs a step can write wrong data, take a path outside the workflow, or be compliant most of the time rather than every time. In Callvu, the AI starts or evaluates a process and a deterministic orchestrator runs every step.
Can Workato and Callvu work together?
Yes. Workato can keep connecting your applications. Callvu runs the regulated process across them, from intake to write-back, and can call or be called by Workato recipes by API.
Do we need to build the process ourselves with Callvu?
No. Callvu builds every process for you, with white-glove implementation included in the license, and goes live in a few weeks. Phoenix Insurance integrated all core systems in 4 weeks, and AT&T launched 12 workflows in 6 weeks.
