ServiceNowvs Callvu
ServiceNow is an enterprise workflow and case management platform, and its Financial Services Operations apps run banking operations such as disputes, payments and loan servicing once a case is open. Callvu is the Completion and Compliance Layer: it orchestrates, routes and decides too, and runs the whole regulated process from the customer's request to the system of record, chasing documents and enforcing compliance at every step while the work runs. Institutions that already run ServiceNow can keep it as the case platform and add Callvu; others run the whole process on Callvu.

The fair version
What ServiceNow is built for.Sourced from their own pages.
ServiceNow is a public enterprise software company with about 8,700 customers [1]. Its AI Platform combines workflows, data and AI, and in May 2026 it announced Otto, a unified AI experience combining Now Assist and Moveworks [2]. For banks it sells Financial Services Operations (FSO), with apps for contact center, branch management, customer onboarding, disputes (built with Visa), complaint management and payment operations, on the platform's single data model [3]; Disputes Management automates dispute processes across front, middle and back office [3]. Customer Service Management adds portals, service catalogs, AI chat and AI voice agents [4]. In Loan Operations, service requests go to back-office agents by assignment rules [10] and required documents become document tasks [11], with Document Intelligence for data extraction [12]. AI Control Tower observes and governs AI agents across the enterprise and can shut down an off-script agent in real time [6]. Processes are built with low-code tools such as App Engine and Workflow Studio [7], and implementation is done by ServiceNow experts or its partners [13].
When to choose which
Two different jobs.Pick the one you need.
When to choose ServiceNow
Choose ServiceNow when you want one platform for case management and workflows across retail and commercial banking and many departments [3], especially if ServiceNow already runs your IT or service operations. It fits institutions with a platform team or implementation partner to configure FSO [13], and those buying packaged dispute operations: Cognizant and ServiceNow offer a dispute management service for mid-market banks [8].
When to choose Callvu
Choose Callvu when you want the whole regulated process run in one layer. Callvu orchestrates the work, routes it by work type, skill and due date, applies rules and policies and manages every decision, and it runs the handoff to the core in the same process. It does that with five moves: it prefills from what the core already knows, classifies each request with work type, skill, effort and due date the moment it lands, chases and verifies documents from customers and outside parties on a clock, routes decisions to the Decision Desk, and writes the result back to the core and the loan system by API. Back-office planning starts the moment the front end starts.
Choose Callvu when compliance must be enforced while the work runs, not checked afterward in a GRC tool. Callvu Studio comes with most regulations already loaded as policies, enforces your own SOPs the same way and produces a Decision Trace and an Audit Trace for every run. And choose Callvu when you need it live in weeks without a platform build: Callvu builds the process, trains your team and stays through launch and ongoing management. That makes it a fit for community banks and credit unions as well as large institutions.
Guardrails are not runtime enforcement. AI Control Tower observes AI agents and can shut one down in real time when it goes off script [6], and ServiceNow AI agents carry out steps such as ACH dispute eligibility checks and return recommendations [5]. Guardrails limit and record what an AI does while it does the work. Even with guardrails, an AI that runs a step can write wrong data to the system of record, take a path that is not in the workflow, or act compliantly most of the time rather than every time. Callvu does not let AI run the process. A deterministic orchestrator executes every step of a defined workflow and enforces every control before the step runs; AI, yours or Callvu's, only starts a process or evaluates it. The system of record receives only what the workflow allows, and every run is recorded in a Decision Trace and an Audit Trace.
Choose Callvu, too, when time and services cost matter. ServiceNow implementations are delivered by ServiceNow experts or its partners [13]. Callvu's license includes white-glove design, implementation, maintenance and optimization for as long as it runs, with no separate services project, and Callvu goes live in a few weeks: PSEG Long Island went live in 4 weeks, and Phoenix Insurance integrated all core systems in 4 weeks.
Side by side
The verifiable facts.Nothing else.
Every cell about ServiceNow is sourced from its own public pages. Runtime enforcement and the handoff lead the table because they are where the two differ most.
| Capability | ServiceNow | |
|---|---|---|
| Primary role | Completion and Compliance Layer between every front door and the system of record | Enterprise AI platform for workflows and case management; FSO apps for banking operations [3] |
| Runtime compliance enforcement | Yes. A deterministic orchestrator runs every step; AI never runs the process. Every regulation and company policy is enforced on every step while the work runs, whether a person or an AI started it; a step that fails a control does not run. A Decision Trace and an Audit Trace for every run | Not a platform capability. AI Control Tower adds real-time controls for AI agents, AI risk frameworks aligned to NIST and the EU AI Act, and can shut down an off-script agent in real time. Banking regulations and company policies are not enforced on every step of every process; those steps are built into each workflow by your team [6] |
| Front-to-back-office handoff | Yes, end to end: prefill from the core, classify the work, chase and verify documents, route decisions to the Decision Desk and write back to the system of record. Back-office planning starts the moment the front end starts | Built inside the platform per process: for example, Disputes Management automates dispute processes across front, middle and back office, and Loan Operations routes service requests to back-office agents [3] |
| Orchestration, routing, rules and decisioning | Yes: workflow orchestration, routing by work type, skill and due date, rules and policies, and human decisions in the Decision Desk | Yes: case management for multi-step journeys, case triage, workflows and integrations [3] |
| Banking operations covered | Any regulated process from first request to write back: loans, servicing, account changes, wires, disputes and more | Contact center, branch management, customer onboarding, disputes (built with Visa), complaints and payment operations [3] |
| Customer-facing intake | Intake from web, branch, phone, visual IVR, AI chat or a CRM event, prefilled from the core so the customer only answers what is missing | Customer portals, service catalogs, AI chat and AI voice agents [4] |
| Documents from customers and outside parties | Requests each missing item from the right party on a clock, reads it on arrival (OCR) and checks it against what the case needs | Loan Operations creates document tasks for required documents; Document Intelligence extracts data [11] |
| AI agents | Callvu AI chat or your own AI agent can start a governed process; six evaluator agents assess every action before it runs, whether a person or an AI started it | AI Agents for banking operations, for example ACH dispute agents that check eligibility and return recommendations [5] |
| AI guardrails vs deterministic execution | Deterministic execution, not guardrails: AI never runs the process. A deterministic orchestrator executes every step and enforces every control before it runs, so nothing unchecked reaches the system of record and no step outside the workflow can happen. A Decision Trace and an Audit Trace for every run | AI Control Tower to discover, observe, govern, secure and measure AI agents and models [6] |
| Core banking integration | Fiserv, FIS, Jack Henry, CSI, Corelation (KeyStone), Finastra and lending systems; more added per customer | Documented Jack Henry jXchange spoke; Integration Hub for other systems [9] |
| Deployment and professional services | White-glove design, implementation, maintenance and optimization included in the license, for as long as it runs; no separate services project. Live in a few weeks: PSEG Long Island went live in 4 weeks, and Phoenix Insurance integrated all core systems in 4 weeks | Implemented by ServiceNow experts or ServiceNow partners [13] |
Using both together
Keep what works.Add the layer that finishes it.
ServiceNow manages the case, assignment and back-office fulfillment. Callvu runs the regulated work around it: prefill from the core, classify, chase and verify outside parties, the human decision in the Decision Desk and the write back to the system of record. Every case ServiceNow receives arrives complete, with the Decision Trace and Audit Trace attached, and a ServiceNow AI agent can be one of the doors where a Callvu process starts. Where you do not run a separate workflow platform, Callvu runs the whole process on its own.
