Pegavs Callvu

Pega is a strong choice for large enterprises that want complex case work, such as disputes, investigations and KYC, standardized inside one platform, often built with a systems integrator. Callvu is the Completion and Compliance Layer: it runs the handoff between the customer-facing request and the back office, through to the system of record, with compliance enforced at every step and live in a few weeks. Both orchestrate, route and decide; the difference is scope and delivery. Pega is an enterprise platform your IT team and partners build on, while Callvu runs the whole regulated process, including the handoff to the core, and builds it for you.

The fair version

What Pega is built for.Sourced from their own pages.

Pegasystems is a public company that describes itself as the enterprise AI software company for mission-critical work [1]. The Pega Platform and Infinity are used to build case-based workflows and, since Infinity '26, to design, orchestrate and govern AI agents, including an agent builder for line-of-business teams [2][3]. Blueprint turns process descriptions and legacy documentation into case types, data models and routing [4]. Agentic Process Fabric orchestrates agents and workflows across Pega and third-party systems, with step-by-step monitoring of agent actions [5]. Since June 2026, authorized third-party AI agents can discover and run Pega processes over MCP, with Pega workflows guiding the agent step by step [15]. For financial services, Pega sells lending applications covering origination, decisioning, servicing and collections [7], Smart Dispute for card, ACH and fraud disputes [8], Smart Investigate for payment exceptions [10] and CLM for onboarding and KYC [9]. Pega's global elite partners include Accenture, Capgemini, Cognizant, EY, Infosys, TCS and Virtusa [14].

When to choose which

Two different jobs.Pick the one you need.

When to choose Pega

Choose Pega when you are a large institution standardizing complex, high-volume case work inside one enterprise platform. Smart Dispute is a good example: it ships SLAs for Reg E and Reg Z and card network dispute rules, and Pega positions it for large, high-volume institutions [8]. Pega also fits when you want KYC onboarding at global scale [9], or a single platform for many internal case types, with an IT organization and a systems integrator to build and maintain it [14]. Some credit unions use Pega too, for example First Tech FCU for member service [11]. Pega supports Pega Cloud, client-managed cloud and deployment in the client's own environment [12].

When to choose Callvu

Callvu runs the whole regulated process: the orchestration, the routing, the rules and the decisioning. It also runs the handoff: getting the customer's request into the back office complete, and getting the result out to every system of record. That handoff is where re-keying, inbox work, chased documents, email approvals and rebuilt audit evidence pile up, and Callvu covers it in the same process rather than leaving it to people and email.

Callvu runs five moves end to end: it prefills from what the core already knows, classifies each request with work type, skill, effort and due date the moment it lands, chases and verifies documents from customers and outside parties on a clock, routes decisions to the Decision Desk, and writes the result back by API. Back-office planning starts the moment the front end starts, not days later. Every step is enforced while the work runs: Callvu Studio comes with most regulations already loaded as policies, and every run produces a Decision Trace and an Audit Trace.

Guardrails are not runtime enforcement. Pega says its governed agents deliver compliant, consistent and auditable outcomes [2], and it monitors agent actions step by step with an audit trail [5]. Pega workflows guide an agent step by step [15], but where a Pega agent acts, the AI performs the step. Guardrails limit and record what an AI does while it does the work. Even with guardrails, an AI that runs a step can write wrong data to the system of record, take a path that is not in the workflow, or act compliantly most of the time rather than every time. Callvu does not let AI run the process. A deterministic orchestrator executes every step of a defined workflow and enforces every control before the step runs; AI, yours or Callvu's, only starts a process or evaluates it. The system of record receives only what the workflow allows, and every run is recorded in a Decision Trace and an Audit Trace.

Choose Callvu, too, when time and services cost matter. Pega works with global elite partners such as Accenture and Infosys [14], and a PegaWorld 2026 session presents a 12-week legacy app redesign at Proximus [13]. Callvu's license includes white-glove design, implementation, maintenance and optimization for as long as it runs, with no separate services project, and Callvu goes live in a few weeks: PSEG Long Island went live in 4 weeks, and Phoenix Insurance integrated all core systems in 4 weeks.

Side by side

The verifiable facts.Nothing else.

Every cell about Pega is sourced from its own public pages. Runtime enforcement and the handoff lead the table because they are where the two differ most.

Pega says its agents work within governed workflows and that every AI-driven interaction adheres to business rules and regulatory standards; those rules are the ones your team builds into each workflow. No policy layer enforces every regulation and company policy on every step of every process, and where a Pega agent acts, the AI performs the step [2]

Using both together

Keep what works.Add the layer that finishes it.

Where Pega is the case engine, it stays. Callvu reads from Pega and the core, prefills the customer request, chases and verifies documents, routes human decisions to the Decision Desk and writes the result back to Pega and the system of record by API. Pega receives complete cases, and every run carries a Decision Trace and an Audit Trace. Where you do not run a separate workflow platform, Callvu runs the whole process on its own.

FAQ

The questions buyers ask.Answered plainly.

Does Pega enforce compliance at runtime?
Not as a platform capability. Pega says its agents work within governed workflows and adhere to business rules and regulatory standards, your team builds compliance rules into each case type, and some Pega applications ship regulatory rules, such as Reg E and Reg Z SLAs in Smart Dispute. Pega does not offer a policy layer that enforces every regulation and company policy on every step of every process, whoever or whatever started it. Callvu does: Callvu Studio comes with most regulations already loaded as policies, a step that fails a control does not run, and every run leaves a Decision Trace and an Audit Trace. Pega's AI guardrails are not the same thing: they limit and record what an AI does while it runs a step. In Callvu, AI never runs the process; a deterministic orchestrator does.
Should a bank choose Pega or Callvu for back-office automation?
Both orchestrate work, route it, apply rules and make decisions. Pega fits large institutions standardizing on one enterprise platform built by IT, often with a systems integrator, or buying prebuilt apps such as card disputes. Callvu fits when you want the whole process run end to end and built for you, including the handoff that often still runs by hand: requests typed again into the core, documents requested over email, approvals in inboxes and audit evidence rebuilt at audit time. Callvu covers all of it from the first request to the write back, with compliance enforced at every step.
What are alternatives to Pega for a mid-size bank or credit union?
Pega positions Smart Dispute for large, high-volume institutions, and its global elite partners are large systems integrators. Callvu fits mid-size banks and credit unions because Callvu builds the processes for you, connects to cores such as Fiserv, FIS, Jack Henry and Corelation, and goes live in a few weeks. Community Bank of Mississippi runs back-office processes across loan ops, credit admin, deposit ops, treasury, IT, information security and HR on Callvu.
Can Pega and Callvu work together?
Yes. Where Pega is the case engine, it stays. Callvu reads from it and the core, runs the customer request and the handoff around the case, routes human decisions to the Decision Desk and writes back by API, with a Decision Trace and an Audit Trace for every run.
How long does it take to go live with Callvu compared with Pega?
Callvu launches in a few weeks, versus a few months for traditional BPM suites. Pega's own example is a PegaWorld 2026 session presenting a 12-week legacy app redesign at Proximus with Pega Blueprint. Phoenix Insurance had 100+ processes live in under 3 months, with all core systems integrated in 4 weeks. White-glove implementation is included in the license, with no separate services project.
Does Callvu do runtime compliance enforcement for AI agents like Pega's governed agents?
Callvu enforces compliance on every step, whether a person or an AI agent started it, and works with any AI agent, including your own. Six evaluator agents assess every action, whether a person or an AI started it, and a deterministic orchestrator decides whether to execute, execute with safeguards, escalate to a person or block. Every run produces a Decision Trace and an Audit Trace, pushed in real time to your GRC and BI tools.
