Build it yourselfvs Callvu

An internal build gives you full control, and with AI coding tools a working demo can appear quickly. But a regulated process in production needs much more than a demo: enforcement of every regulation on every step, updates every time a rule changes, integrations to the core and outside parties, and evidence of why each step was allowed, kept for examiners. Callvu delivers that as a product, built and maintained for you, live in a few weeks.

The fair version

What an internal build is built for.Sourced from their own pages.

An internal build automates a regulated process with your own team. Your engineers, increasingly with AI coding tools, build the intake screens, the workflow, the integrations to the core and other systems, the compliance checks and the logging for each process, and then maintain all of it as regulations, systems and policies change. General-purpose workflow and rules engines can shorten parts of the build, but the regulations, integrations and evidence trail for each process are still yours to write and keep current. It gives full control and fits processes that are unique to your institution.

When to choose which

Two different jobs.Pick the one you need.

When to choose an internal build

Choose an internal build when the process is unique to your institution, low in compliance risk and volume, and unlikely to change, and when you have engineering capacity to build it, integrate it and maintain it, including an evidence trail, for years. It also fits experiments and internal tools where no regulator will ask how a step was allowed.

When to choose Callvu

A demo is not production. The demo shows a form and a flow. Production needs every regulation and company policy enforced on every step, updated whenever a rule changes; integrations to the core, the loan system, policy admin or billing and to outside parties; documents chased and verified on a clock; human decisions recorded; and evidence of why each step was allowed, kept and ready for an examiner. An internal build must build and own each of these for every process.

Callvu delivers them as a product. It runs the whole process with five moves: it prefills from what the core already knows, classifies each request with work type, skill, effort and due date the moment it lands, chases and verifies documents from customers and outside parties on a clock, routes decisions to the Decision Desk, and writes the result back by API. A deterministic orchestrator runs every step, so AI never runs the process; Callvu Studio comes with most regulations already loaded as policies, and every run produces a Decision Trace and an Audit Trace, immutable and pushed in real time to your GRC and BI tools.

Choose Callvu, too, when time and ownership cost matter. Callvu's license includes white-glove design, implementation, maintenance and optimization for as long as it runs, with no engineering backlog to manage, and Callvu goes live in a few weeks: PSEG Long Island went live in 4 weeks, and Phoenix Insurance integrated all core systems in 4 weeks.

FAQ

The questions buyers ask.Answered plainly.

Does an internal build enforce compliance at runtime?
Only if your team builds it: every regulation and company policy coded into every process, re-coded when it changes, plus a separate system that records why each step was allowed. Callvu does this as a product: a deterministic orchestrator enforces every policy on every step while the work runs, and most regulations come already loaded.
Should we build or buy regulated workflow automation?
Build when the process is unique, low risk, low change and you have engineering capacity to own it for years. Buy when the process is regulated, crosses the front and back office, changes with regulation, and must produce evidence for examiners. Many regulated processes at banks, credit unions, insurers and utilities fit the second description.
Can we use AI coding tools to build our own compliant workflows?
AI coding tools make a prototype fast. Production is a different project: enforcement on every step, integrations to the core and outside parties, change management when rules change, and an evidence trail an examiner accepts. Callvu gives you that layer ready-made, and you can still connect your own AI agent as one of the doors.
What does it cost to maintain an internal build?
The ongoing work is engineering time for every regulatory change, every integration change and every audit request, for as long as the process runs. With Callvu, design, implementation, maintenance and optimization are included in the license.
How fast can Callvu go live compared with building in-house?
Callvu goes live in a few weeks. Phoenix Insurance had 100+ processes live in under 3 months, with all core systems integrated in 4 weeks.
