Genesysvs Callvu

Genesys Cloud is a contact center platform for routing, voice and digital channels, with AI virtual agents that act in back-end systems and new case management and AI governance tools. Callvu is not a contact center. It is the Completion and Compliance Layer that runs the regulated work a conversation starts, through to the system of record: documents, decisions and write-back, with every regulation and company policy enforced on every step by a deterministic orchestrator. Callvu works alongside Genesys.

The fair version

What Genesys is built for.Sourced from their own pages.

Genesys Cloud is a contact center platform for voice, routing, IVR and digital channels, with copilots for human agents and workforce engagement tools [1]. Its Agentic Virtual Agent, announced in February 2026, progresses workflows across CRM, billing and other systems within guardrails and permissions set by administrators, on a large action model Genesys describes as built for deterministic, action-grounded execution [3]. AI Guides build virtual agents that combine fixed steps with adaptive ones [4]. Work Automation routes back-office work items to skilled handlers [7], and Case Management, introduced in April 2026, turns requests into tracked cases [5] with tasks routed by skill and rules, SLA escalation, Form Tasks and Approval Tasks [8]. In 2026 Genesys acquired Pinkfish for workflow automation [6] and, in September, launched an AI Control Plane for discovering, identifying, governing and observing AI agents, which Genesys says keeps decisions and actions within defined business boundaries, and announced Orchestrator, expected in 2027, which reasons over context, policies and guardrails to choose the next step in a customer journey [2].

When to choose which

Two different jobs.Pick the one you need.

When to choose Genesys

Choose Genesys when the need is the contact center itself [1]: routing, voice and digital channels, workforce engagement, agent assist and AI virtual agents for customer conversations [3], at enterprise scale.

When to choose Callvu

Choose Callvu when the regulated work a Genesys conversation starts must finish in the system of record. Callvu is not a contact center; it works alongside one. Genesys routes and tracks the work across teams, with SLA escalation and simple approval tasks [8]; Callvu adds what its documentation does not describe: prefill from the core, documents requested, chased and verified from customers and third parties on a clock, a governed write-back and every control enforced on every step. Callvu orchestrates the work, routes it by work type, skill and due date, applies rules and policies and manages every decision, with five moves: it prefills from the core, classifies each request the moment it lands, chases and verifies documents from customers and third parties on a clock, routes decisions to the Decision Desk, and writes the result back to the system of record by API.

Guardrails are not runtime enforcement. The Agentic Virtual Agent acts in back-end systems within guardrails and permissions [3], the AI Control Plane keeps AI agents within set boundaries, and the coming Orchestrator lets AI reason over policies to choose the next step [2]. A model built for deterministic actions still decides which action to take. Even with guardrails, an AI that runs a step can write wrong data to the system of record, take a path that is not in the workflow, or act compliantly most of the time rather than every time. Callvu does not let AI run the process. A deterministic orchestrator executes every step of a defined workflow and enforces every control before the step runs; AI only starts a process or evaluates it. Every run is recorded in a Decision Trace and an Audit Trace.

Side by side

The verifiable facts.Nothing else.

Every cell about Genesys is sourced from its own public pages. Runtime enforcement and the handoff lead the table because they are where the two differ most.

Runtime compliance enforcementYes. A deterministic orchestrator runs every step; AI never runs the process. Every regulation and company policy is enforced on every step while the work runs, whether a person or an AI started it; a step that fails a control does not run. A Decision Trace and an Audit Trace for every runNot a platform capability. Genesys documents fixed steps in AI Guides, guardrails and permissions on AI agents and the AI Control Plane for governing AI agents. The AI agents still interpret each request and decide how to act; no layer enforces every regulation and company policy on every step [2]
Front-to-back-office handoffYes, end to end: prefill from the core, classify the work, chase and verify documents on a clock, route decisions to the Decision Desk and write back to the system of recordPartial. Case Management routes tasks to agents or back-office staff by skill and rules, escalates tasks that pass an SLA, collects data from other teams with Form Tasks and handles yes or no decisions with Approval Tasks. Prefill from the core, requesting, chasing and verifying documents from customers and third parties, and governed write-back with enforcement on every step are not documented; the customer integrates CRM, ERP or BPM systems through APIs or middleware [8]
AI guardrails vs deterministic executionDeterministic execution, not guardrails: AI never runs the process. A deterministic orchestrator executes every step and enforces every control before it runs, so nothing unchecked reaches the system of record and no step outside the workflow can happenThe Agentic Virtual Agent progresses workflows across CRM, billing and service systems within admin-set guardrails and permissions, on a large action model Genesys describes as built for deterministic, action-grounded execution. The model still interprets each request and chooses the action [3]
Requesting and verifying documentsRequests, chases and verifies documents from customers and third parties on a clockForm Tasks collect structured data from other teams inside a case; requesting, chasing and verifying documents from customers and third parties is not described [8]
Contact centerNo. Callvu works alongside the contact center and takes the work from the conversationYes: routing, ACD, IVR, digital channels and workforce engagement [1]

Using both together

Keep what works.Add the layer that finishes it.

Genesys stays the contact center. A Genesys conversation, virtual agent or work item starts a Callvu process; Callvu collects and verifies documents, sends exceptions to the Decision Desk, writes back to the system of record and returns the result and the Audit Trace to Genesys by API. Callvu can also run the whole process on its own, on web, mobile and Visual IVR.

FAQ

The questions buyers ask.Answered plainly.

Does Genesys enforce compliance at runtime?
Genesys lets builders combine fixed and adaptive steps in AI Guides and governs AI agents with guardrails, permissions and its AI Control Plane. Those are guardrails on AI. The agents still interpret each request and decide how to act. Callvu enforces every regulation and company policy on every step of the process, with a deterministic orchestrator and AI never running the process.
Is Callvu a contact center platform?
No. Callvu is not a contact center. It works alongside Genesys and runs the regulated work a conversation starts through to the system of record.
Can Callvu work with Genesys?
Yes. A Genesys conversation, a virtual agent or a work item can start a Callvu process. Callvu runs it to completion, with documents, decisions and write-back, and returns the result and the Audit Trace by API.
Is it safe to let a contact center AI agent update the system of record?
Even with guardrails, an AI that performs a step can write wrong data to the system of record, take a path outside the workflow, or act compliantly most of the time rather than every time. With Callvu, the AI captures the request and a deterministic orchestrator executes it, enforcing every control first.
How fast can Callvu go live alongside a contact center?
Callvu builds the process for you and goes live in a few weeks. PSEG Long Island went live in 4 weeks, integrated with NICE CXone, and AT&T launched 12 workflows in 6 weeks.
